PLANNING APPRAISAL COMMITTEE The aim of the Planning Appraisal Committee is to conserve and enhance the City’s historic heritage and to encourage good modern architecture, urban planning and open spaces. The lists of planning applications to the City Council are circulated to members who study those that they consider to be important. The Committee meets once a month to discuss the members’ views which, when significant, are forwarded to Development Control to be included in the recommendations tabled at the meetings of the City Council’s Planning Committee, and also to the individual councillors of that Committee. When major developments are under consideration the Committee would attend presentations by the developers, either as a result of the developer’s suggestion or through the recommendation of the City Planning Department. Meetings are held with the City Council’s Planning Department to exchange aims and ideas with a view to influencing future policy. A member appointed by the PAC to represent the Society on the City Council’s Greater Norwich Review Panel and the University of East Anglia’s Stakeholders’ Committee will report back to the Planning Appraisal Committee. The Planning Appraisal Committee will liaise with other Committees and the Executive of the Norwich Society. |
